Adult advanced beginners ukulele lessons |
Overview of the advanced beginners ukulele courses, held in London. Please read through the Advanced Beginners/Intermediates course info, as it gives an insight about the way the courses are taught. How do I know if I should join beginners or advanced beginners? If you are comfortable playing the main major, minor and 7th chords (eg C,G,G7,F,A,Am,A7,E,E7,D,D7 etc) on your ukulele, are comfortable with multiple chord changes and feel confident to play songs without over reliance on chord boxes to remind you which is which chord, then you are ready for advanced beginners. What does the course cover? How to play moveable chords, on each string, how to pick a number of melody lines, and play using different strumming patterns and rhythms with your ukulele. How to read tab notation. It is intended that you get to know your instrument a lot better, and play your ukulele using different voicings, or inversions of chords. This course is much more technical than beginners, in that, it doesn't simply teach you to play songs, so there is more to for you to take in. Please ensure that you have time to practice before committing to the course. If you are unsure, or find strumming baffles you, then go for absolute. It is worth a little repetition for what you'll get out of it. What do I need to bring?Yourself, your ukulele and a pen. Where is the course held?In a pub in Holborn. You are allowed to drink (sensibly) this is an adult course, intended to be fun and social. How much does the course cost? The course is £79.99 for 4 weeks. Can I drop in to a class? The classes are structured so each follows on from the other. It is best that you can commit to the 4 lessons, though individual catch up sessions can be arranged if you need to miss a class. Do I need to practice? How long for?Yes, you only get an overview in class. You will need to spend 15 minutes each day practising to get the most from this course, or three or four times per week for longer. Ukulele playing is very much about muscle memory, so it's important that you commit to practising so that your muscles move when you want them to. You get the best when you do a little every day.
