Masterclasses with James Hill | Tue 11 Apr | 6:30-8pm or 8:15-10pm
It is with the greatest pleasure that I announce another workshop with the wonderful James Hill. If you didn’t already know, James is a ukulele virtuoso and some. If you haven’t seen him play Billie Jean [click] or Voodoo Child [click] then you ought to! The words ‘ukulele virtuoso’ are used liberally by some to describe guitarists who are able to hack and play lead lines on a ukulele, but I know of only three actual ukulele virtuosos in the world. In April 2017, you’ll get to have a workshop with one of them. You’ll come away with a back pocket full of new tricks and will have met a brilliant player and a lovely man on his second workshop in London since becoming a father. Very exciting!
OVERVIEW:
6:30-8pm
Living in Perfect Harmony
(All Levels)
If you love to SING in three-part harmony, this is the class for you! Find out why your ukulele is the perfect tool for writing beautiful vocal arrangements in just minutes. We’ll sing arrangements of folk, gospel and jazz favourites. Best of all, you’ll learn how to create your own multi-part harmonies faster than you can say “My Mom Made Me Mow My Lawn!”
8:15-10pm
Tune Writing
(Intermediate)
In this creative, hands-on ukulele workshop James guides you as you write your own tune! Working individually and/or in groups, you’ll learn about tune structure, phrasing, chord progressions, what makes a great melody and much more. Whether you fancy writing a waltz, a jig, a reel or something altogether different, this workshop will help to spark new ideas and find fresh inspiration!
Where is it held?
Upstairs (grab a drink on your way up, there is no bar upstairs) at the Horse and Stables, Westminster Bridge Road, SE1.
