This is the home of Uke’s Cool!  A new ukulele school that will teach you how to play the ukulele in a fun and inclusive way.  If you have ever been told you ‘are not musical’ we will try to prove you wrong in one of our ukulele lessons!

This site is under construction, but we are fully functional!  If you want to get in touch, find our details in the ‘contact us’ section.

We are currently recruiting for adult beginners courses.  The courses are 1 night per week and run for 6 weeks.

Start dates are:

  • Tuesday 23 February
  • Wednesday 24 February
  • Monday 1 March

Please email with your preferred day/date to book a place.

Also, for anyone who is out of touch with the ukulele revival, see here:

The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain have single-handedly (or 16-handedly) spurred the trend and passion for ukuleles in Britain.  With fantastic covers which ensure that “Audiences have a good time with the Ukulele Orchestra. Going from Tchaikovsky to Nirvana via Otis Redding and Spaghetti Western soundtracks, the Orchestra takes us on “a world tour with only hand luggage” and gives the listener “One Plucking Thing After Another”.  Read more about them and see if you can catch a live show here.

“Once listed in Guinness Book of Records as the easiest musical instrument to play, the ukulele has long laboured in the shadows of its larger and cooler brother, the guitar – but recently there have been signs that this nimble pint-sized instrument is ready to take its place in the musical spotlight.” Guardian Newspaper

The uke (spelled ukelele or ukulele) is now set to overtake the recorder in schools.  We were on More4 News earlier this year talking about this lovely instruments’ benefits, which include the ability to sing and play at the same time plus an introduction to stringed instruments and to music.

It is so popular that a world record of 851 players was set for the largest ukulele ensemble in the world - all playing Sloop John B at the London Uke Festival this year, 2009.

Then, over a thousand ukulele wielding people joined the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain playing Ode to Joy at the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall.

We look forward to hearing you strum a tune soon.

Best wishes,

Uke’s Cool staff.
