Christmas Ukulele Songs…

I keep being asked about good ukulele songs to play at Christmas. I like lots of different genres of music, as I’m sure you do too, so I couldn’t say what you’ll enjoy. Here’s an amendment to last years’ Ukulele Wednesdays songbook, with the addition of Mele Kalikimaka, the ‘Hawaiian’ Christmas song. We’ll be doing a version of this at the Learn To Uke Christmas Party, along with my old favourite Jose Feliciano song ‘Feliz Navidad’, and the classic Band Aid song ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas Time’ and Mariah Carey’s ‘All I want for Christmas is You’. I’m sure we’ll get through all of them, and the other songs too.

Here’s the Christmas Ukulele song list:

All I Want For Christmas Is You – Mariah Carey
Do They Know It’s Christmas? – Band Aid
Fairytale of New York – The Pogues
Feliz Navidad – Jose Feliciano
Frosty the Snowman – Walter “Jack” Rollins & Steve Nelson
F*ck Christmas – Eric Idle
Happy Xmas (War is over) – John Lennon & Yoko Ono
Have yourself a Merry little Christmas – Judy Garland
I wish it could be Christmas every day – Wizzard
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas – Bing Crosby
Last Christmas – Wham!
Let it snow – Sammy Cahn & Jule Styne
Lonely this Christmas – Mud
Mele Kalikimaka
Merry Christmas Everybody – Slade
Merry Christmas Everyone — Shakin Stevens
Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree — John Marks
Santa Baby – Eartha Kitt 21 Santa Claus is coming to town – John Frederick Coots & Haven Gillespie
Winter Wonderland – Felix Bernard & Richard B. Smith

Ukulele Lesson for School children… Trouble by Taylor Swift…

I don’t often post about the work I do in schools, but sometimes, little miracles happen that I just have to share.  This was one such fun ukulele lesson for school children, which was caught on record.  I hastily prepared the song ‘Trouble’ by Taylor Swift, and took it along for my after school club.  I didn’t expect them to love it as much as they did.  Listen towards the end, you’ll hear a cute hiccough and a lot of giggles.  :)

Happy Easter! Easter Ukulele Songs?

We’ve been thinking about what would be an appropriate list of Easter Ukulele Songs for today.  What would be a good list of Ukulele  Easter Songs, or should that be ewe-kelele Easter songs?  Given the weather, maybe a touch of ‘Bring Me Sunshine’ or ‘Make Me Smile’?  If you’ve got a sweet tooth, maybe ‘Sugar Pie Honey Bunch’ or if you’ve spent a fortune on expensive eggs, perhaps ‘Price Tag’.  If you’re celebrating with  religious people, go for ‘I’m a Believer’ or ‘Daydream Believer’.  If you’re travelling to see family or friends, maybe a spot of ‘King of the Road’.

Whatever you decide to play, you can grab any of those ukulele songs we mentioned in the free Ukulele Wednesdays songbook – click here to see how to get a copy.

Right.  It’s time to get on with cooking the roast and gorging on Easter eggs.  That’s what today’s all about, surely?  Whatever you end up doing, be sure to have a great day!
